Ketamine-assisted psychotherapy (KAP) is a unique therapeutic approach that combines the use of ketamine, a rapid-acting medication with antidepressant properties, with psychotherapy to facilitate deeper emotional processing and insight.
How does ketamine-assisted psychotherapy work?
Initial Consultation & Assessment: We begin with a comprehensive evaluation to understand your needs and determine if ketamine therapy is right for you.
Preparation: Before your first ketamine session, we will guide you through 1-6 preparation sessions depending on your needs to clarify intentions, learn what to expect, develop skills for navigating the altered state, and establish trust and safety with your therapist.
In-Office Ketamine Session: During your session, you'll be in a comfortable, supportive environment as you take the prescribed ketamine. The effects will begin shortly and last for 1.5-2hrs. Your therapist will be present the entire time providing guidance and support. After the peak effects subside, you’ll have time to return to your normal state before leaving the office.
Integration: After the session, we'll help you process your insights and experiences, integrating them into your journey of healing and self-actualization.
Who is ketamine-assisted psychotherapy for?
Many people turn to ketamine-assisted therapy when struggling with depression, anxiety, PTSD, addiction, or attachment-related challenges that have not responded fully to traditional therapies. Ketamine-assisted therapy is not recommended for individuals with a history of psychosis, uncontrolled hypertension, or certain cardiovascular conditions. A thorough assessment will help determine if this treatment is appropriate for you.
